Grading & Temperament
Our puppies are
raised in our family room and well socialized from birth.
Each puppy is handled multiple times per day, stimulating
sensory perceptions and establishing a familiarity with
humans. They are weighed daily to ensure continued growth
and the nails are clipped weekly. Between 3 and 5 days of
age, puppies travel to our vet for tail docking, dew-claw
removal, and preliminary soundness check. At 6&˝ weeks of
age puppies head back to the vet for 1st shots
and wellness exam which includes fecal check for internal
parasites.
At 6 & ˝ weeks a
formal grading is conducted. Puppies are examined and
evaluated for correct structure and aptitude. Grading each
litter provides me the opportunity to see how each litter
compares to another and to previous generations. The goal
of continuous improvement is a mandate for any breeder
concerned about the future of the Vizsla.
At 7 weeks
puppies are temperament tested using Sheila Booth’s Positive
Puppy Preview method. This, in conjunction with daily
observation, becomes the basis for evaluating which puppy
might best ‘fit’ its new potential family.
Sales Agreements
A sample copy of our standard sales agreement can be
obtained on request. We want to work with our families, are
happy to answer questions, and can ‘customize’ a sales
agreement for you. You will be asked to sign the agreement
the day you receive your puppy and you will receive a copy
for your records. Our agreement covers health, housing,
warranties, buyer and seller responsibilities, training and
expectations. Our sales agreement states emphatically that
we TAKE BACK any dog we breed FOR IT'S LIFETIME. All pet
puppies are sold on limited registration with a spay /
neuter agreement.
