Unique Vizsla Traits
Many family members of Vizsla's have noticed a few things that they do, that seem to be unique to the breed.  One of these traits, is that of the "polite distinguished gentleman", as we call it.   We've all seen it, they just love to cross their legs, and usually do this with appropriately good posture, holding their head up.  As seen below, this apparently starts in early puppy hood.

Distinguished Gentleman in training at 4 weeks of age!

The above photo is of Ginger, so "the distinguished gentleman", does not necessarily denote sex, as both dogs and bitches exhibit this trait.  (Frankly, calling that sweet elegant pup, looking so aristocratic, a bitch, is just not nice.)

Cooper is truly a Distinguished Gentleman.

Another unique Vizsla trait, is not quite so elegant or distinguished.  We refer to it as "puffy lips".  Only one of our 4 Vizslas has ever done it, and he does it fairly often.  For whatever reason, on occasion, Jack will fill his mouth with air, which puffs up his lips, and they stay that way.  Unfortunately, this sometimes causes him to look more like a "country bumpkin" than a distinguished gentleman.  Since none of our other Vs have done this, nor any of our friends Vs, we just thought Jack was weird.  Fortunately, he has not done this in the show ring.

In sorting through many dozens of photos I have found some others who also do it, even as puppies.  It is pretty cute on the pups.

Then again, after I posted this photo, maybe Gracie does look a little weird, too.  Cute, but a little weird.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  "They" underestimated.
