Jazzan Vizslas

Jazzan Vizslas is a small hobby kennel located in central Ohio.  From our first breeding, our goal has always been to produce Vizslas that combine the best traits of conformation, hunting instincts, health and temperament, with temperament being of utmost importance.

Jazzan Vizslas began in the spring of 1986, when I saw my first Vizsla.  Of course I didn’t know what that beautiful dog was, but I was so taken with its looks, elegance, and regal bearing that I had to find out.  “A Vizsla”, I was told by its owner.  What that was, I still had no idea, but the seed was sown.  Within a year, I had my first, “Jazz”.  She became a Champion with her Companion Dog title.  But more importantly, she was the most perfect dog I’d ever had.  Friendly, loving, sweet.  Beautiful, intelligent, goofy.  We were hooked!  Of course, we had to have another one just like her…and Jazzan Vizslas was born.

We traveled to California to see our first Nationals, in October of 1989.  There we met a number of warm wonderful people who were as friendly as their dogs.  After meeting Marilee and Bob Sloan at the Field events, we decided that Jazz should be bred to their handsome dog named “Cash” (CH Camarily Sand Dollar).  He was sweet, loving, affectionate, and ‘groaned’ when you scratched his sides and back, just like Jazz!  That union blessed us with 11 puppies, of which we kept 2.  “Elling”, was the first born, and “Savoy” the last.

The “Faczan” connection to our pedigrees.

When I bred Jazz to Cash I had no idea that I would be doing this as a life long avocation.  My best friend was starting her career as a professional handler and had the kennel name of Faczan.  She offered to show any puppies from my litter at no cost, if I would use her kennel name.  This arrangement continued until I felt it was time to have my own identity.  I wanted to honor my foundation Jazz, and chose the name “Jazzan”.

To date, I’ve produced 4 generations of American and Canadian Conformation Champions, Junior, Senior, and Master Hunter titled dogs, Obedience and Agility titled.  I’ve donated to Pilot Dogs for the Blind and produced a Certified Hearing Assistance Dog (see Tyger’s page).

I've been aided along the way by knowledgeable breeders who've taken the time to answer questions and help whenever possible.  I continue to respect the integrity, research, hard work and passion that gave us the breed we enjoy today.  My goal is to continue to breed the best individuals possible to further improve the Vizsla we love so much.
